Week 12 Reading Notes: Epified Krishna Part B

Part B of this Epified series made me learn even more about the details of Krishna's life.  I never knew Brahma had an interest in Krishna--the series talks about a day where Krishna is out eating with his cowherd friends.  Brahma decides to watch this interaction.  He sees Krishna sharing his food with his friends off of his own plate--this makes Brahma question the divinity of Krishna.  Brahma wondered why Krishna would ever share food off of his own plate with mortals.  In order to test Krishna, Brahma takes away all of the cows and the cowherds.  Krishna, not being able to find them but eventually understanding that Brahma was at work here, decides to make new cows and cowherds from himself.  They go back to the village and no one even realizes that these people weren't Krishna's original friends.  Brahma returns sometime later and was confused as to why no one in the village was missing out on their sons and companions.  After finding Krishna's copies, Brahma respects Krishna's divinity and returns the original cows and cowherds.  I like this story a lot! I think it would be a fun story to use as inspiration for writing.  I like the concept of having a young god tested, similar to how Brahma tested Krishna.  Krishna was able to pass this test with flying colors.  In another story that I really enjoyed, Krishna falls in love with Radha.  Krishna's adopted parents, for some reason, aren't on board with Krishna marrying Radha.  When Krishna disagrees with their disapproval, Nanda tells Krishna that his destiny was not to marry Radha--he was supposed to save the world.  It is revealed to Krishna that he is the deliverer that the priests have been talking about.  Krishna is even told the truth about his parents--and finds out he is adopted.  This scene stands out to me because this is a lot to drop on a young person at one time, even if they are divine.  This revelation made Krishna sad, though he was resolved to follow his destiny after this interaction.  I think this story was very important for Krishna's life.  This revelation put Krishna on the right track to be the savior he was meant to become. As Krishna had escaped all of Kamsa's attempts on his life, Kamsa invited Krishna and his brother to a party for Mathura.  It was revealed to Krishna that the reason for this was to kill Krishna.  While the whole village was sad to see Krishna go, Krishna explained that he had to fulfill his own duties in life.  Krishna was determined to fulfill his destiny, even though it meant leaving his home and family.
